Appearance: White waxy solid flakes or granular powder; slightly stinky.

Application:
*Mainly used as a base for drip pills, ointments, suppositories, lubricants for tablets, capsules, plasticizers, solid dispersion carriers, suspending agents, porogens, etc.
*As a dripping pill matrix, it can be mixed with other molecular weight of Macrogol, so its application is much wider.
*As an ointment base, it does not penetrate the skin easily and is easy to clean.
*As a suppository base, a suppository with a higher melting point can be prepared. It has good stability during storage, can withstand the effects of high temperature, and the release of the drug is not affected by melting point.
*Its aqueous solution can be used as a suspending agent or adjust the viscosity of other suspensions.
*In solid preparations, this product can increase the effectiveness of tablet binders and affect the plasticity of the granules, but the effect is limited when used alone.
*It can also be made into a solid dispersion with poorly soluble drugs to improve the water solubility and dissolution rate of poorly soluble drugs, or as a fat-soluble solid dispersion, a hydrophobic coating porogen.

Incompatibility:
It is oxidizing, which can reduce the antibacterial activity of antibiotics, especially for penicillin and bacitracin. It also weakens the preservative effect of hydroxyphenyl ester. Phenol, tannic acid, and salicylic acid can soften and liquefy this product. Sulfonamides and dithranol can change color with its action. It can produce precipitation when compatible with sorbitol. Plastics such as polyethylene, phenolic, polyvinyl chloride and cellulose ester films can be softened or dissolved by this product.
Safety: Considered non-toxic and non-irritating, but also been reported to cause irritating pain during mucosal administration.
Storage: It can be oxidized by long-term exposure to air, and the possibility of oxidation can be reduced by storing under nitrogen.
Care should be taken to avoid iron contamination when heating and melting this product, because iron can discolor it.
